Over 600 performers (460 singers and 150 instrumentalists) performed a specially commissioned piece at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday night. “Journey” by Phil Harper was sung by students from 24 Secondary schools in Gloucestershire and performed by members of Gloucestershire Music’s four most advanced ensembles. 750 supporters accompanied the students to London on the day.

The result was a very impressive performance, and the day will remain in the memories of performers and supporters for a long time to come. One student on leaving the hall said “this is the best day in my life so far”.

Make Music Gloucestershire, the county’s music education hub, will work to provide as many opportunities as possible to young people to perform in large scale, high quality events now and in the future.
