Welcome to a new school year!

We are now most definitely into a new school year which promises to be both exciting and demanding for music services up and down the country.

Since my last blog, we have learnt that the Gloucestershire Youth Brass Band will be appearing at the Schools’ Prom at the Albert Hall on November 7th. This is a remarkable achievement and the first appearance ever by a youth music group from the county at this prestigious event. Congratulations go to Steve Legge and all the students who have worked so hard to achieve these high standards. We are also proud of the partnership we have with the Gloucestershire Brass Band Association which has ensured that this group has developed so successfully.

From November we are seeking to develop first access opportunities for young musicians across the county, both via our existing music centres and also via new centres at Newent, Dursley, Cirencester and Quedgeley. These sessions are designed for pupils who have just started learning either through Wider opportunities whole class sessions or smaller group sessions. Visit our website for further details or phone us on 01452 330300.

Finally, we will very soon be inviting opinions on what needs to be done to improve music provision in Gloucestershire via Survey Monkey questionnaires. Please keep an eye out for these on our website and our Facebook page.
